Hi!

My name is Susanta Nanda (pronounced as Susanta Nanda), currently doing my PhD in the Experimental Computer Systems Lab (ECSL) Department of Computer Science & Engineering, SUNY Stony Brook, NY.

1996 - 2000: B.S., Department of CSE, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India

Before joining the PhD program, I spent a couple of years researching at Network Data & Services Department, Bell Labs at the Lucent headquarters Murray Hill, New Jersey. The two years I spent there, somehow persuaded me to go for a PhD and hence I am here. However, the most interesting days of my life were the four years that I spent at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur during my under-graduation where I earned most of my friends that I have till now. 

Research Interests:

Virtualization, Network and Low-Power Computing, Display management, Cluster Networking, Operating Systems.

Current Project Involvements at ECSL:

  • Virtual Network Computing (VNC) based Low-power computing for Slow wireless devices
  • Viking extension for Storage Area Networks and Gigabit Ethernet Networks
  • Multi-user Windows VNC
  • Binary Interpretation Engine for x86 family of processors
  • Namespace Virtualization: A light-weight virtualization approach for x86/Win2K machines
