Right now most of the pages of this site (http://www.ecsl.cs.sunysb.edu/~maxim/)

Count the number of visits.
Are either "no-cache" and have the expiration date somewhere in the past, or have the expiration date somewhere in the very near future to force frequent reloading of the pages.
All/most of internal and external links go through a logging CGI script.
This logging script logs easily collectible information about the visitors; that includes
- IP address
- Referring page
- Browser type
- Time of access
More importantly and less widespread that it sometimes also includes
- ident daemon information
- The results of fingering of the accessing computer
both of which are available from some Unix-like hosts.
Actually it is very easy for a visitor to make most of the information above unaccessible or mostly useless for such logging.
In the future I will probably stop collecting some/all kinds of the information above, especially the kinds that make accessing this site slower.
Some pages related to the Open GRiD Project (http://www.ecsl.cs.sunysb.edu/~maxim/OpenGRiD/) count the time spent by the reader on the page using simple Java Script code.

But (and) there is/are

No Java or Java Script on the pages on this site (except for the Java Script as described above and some Java Script used by the third party counters on this site).
No cookies (except for the ones that might be installed by the third party counters used on this site).
No attempts to collect information about the visitor other than the ones just listed above.
No attempts to break anything on the visitor's computer.
For example, this site does not
- Try to get non-trivial information (like e-mail address) about the visitor by using malicious Java (Script) code (except for the things described above).
- Try to determine the operating system of the visitor's computer.
- Scan for open ports on the visitor's computer.
- Try to break into the X-server of the visitor's computer if such exists.
- And so on.
And this site is not browser sensitive.
